Yay, not made of fail!
Hooray, no more unemployment! I had an interview on Wednesday, but I totally bombed that. Thankfully the employment agency came to the recuse and lined up another job interview. I was super caught off guard though. They phoned me around 8:30 am this morning, saying the new company wanted to have a chat with me. And so followed a mad rush to find the company - it's in the middle of an industrial park but not a bad bus ride - eat breakfast, get cleaned up, and then get out of the house. It's a small company, but the people seem real nice and I'll be working on their documents, formatting, proofreading, editing, etc. Though, being the lame person that I am, I forgot to ask about benefits and pay. Whoops.

I don't start until the 26th so I have one more day to enjoy unemployment before I'm gone for a week in San Francisco. I have to admit I'm sort of glad I bombed the other one. The other job sounded so boring and structured. And this new company has a cool name. Ghostpine.

In other exciting news that isn't about job hunting, the first photos from Dollhouse have been released! This first one is of Echo in the Dollhouse, which looks like a pretty set. It looks like a cross between a Zen garden and the Angel Wolfram and Hart set. The second one is a cast photo. Look, it's Helo in a suit. No sign of Amy, but since she's recurring I guess she doesn't get included. Seems the Dolls wear yoga clothing (and no shoes) when they're not out on jobs. ;-) Sadly, we won't see Dollhouse until January, but the episode count is now at 13. If you want to put a positive spin on it, the later date gives FOX, and fans, time to promote the series.

Well, at least it wasn't a Ferengi plot to fool the Doctor
A little ST: TNG reference for the fans there. ;-)

Well, that was... interesting. But in a good way.

Sadly, I won't be home next Saturday so I'll be missing out on the Agatha Christie action. But my sister is going to buy me a pair of Chucks for my birthday. :-) Now comes the all important decision: what colour?

I think this episode is saying we should all walk more
Good thing about two parters. If the first part is lacklustre you can always make it up in the second part. Though, first parts can't help but be sucky sometimes. It has to set up stuff for the second part and that's never fun.

I so planned on not watching the trailer since the plot of episode six was a complete mystery to me but with the end of the episode the way it was, I had to keep watching.

Okay, on second thought "The Sontaran Stratagem" had its moments
I was rather tired yesterday after the con, so my thoughts on Doctor Who were a little scattered. I forgot to babble about a few things that came up. The episode had some good things.

I think that's the last time I'll be watching Doctor Who after a long day. You sort of zone out.

Oh, those silly Sontarans
Again with the titles that spoil who the villains are. It totally ruins the moment when they're revealed. You know to expect a space potato head under that helmet.

Actually, I'm really excited to get past the next episode. I have no idea what episode six is about. They didn't show clips from that episode; all the trailers skipped over it and went straight to episode seven. Beyond episode seven I'm totally clueless, too. I can't wait. No more school and unknown Who episodes to come.

Ooddles of Ood
Just what I needed. A snowy episode to match the weather outside. ;-) I swear the Ood Home Sphere could be just outside my window.

Next week should be interesting. I'm not sure I agree with the makeover they've given the Sontarans, but hopefully they've kept their attitudes the same.

Doctor Who: making Roman history fun since 2008!
Wow, that was a really good episode. I was rather excited for this one since I learned a little bit about Pompeii in my Greek and Roman technology class. Also, it's easy to convince myself that by watching this episode I was actually studying for the class. ;-) Actually, there were a few examples of some of things I learned in class in the episode, like amphorae and hypocausts. Heck, there was even graffiti on the wall when the Doctor is talking to that merchant.

Good episode, and we all learned a few things about Pompeii. Maybe a question about Pompeii will appear on my Greek and Roman technology final. I wish. :-) Thankfully in a week classes will be done and I can watch Doctor Who guilt free after that.

The Doctor and Donna: together again!
Oh yeah, Doctor Who is back! I think I've overgeeked this weekend. :-D

Wow, and the official Doctor Who site got ugly and weird to navigate. But podcast commentaries! Hurray for BBC only messing up the commentary for "Voyage of the Damned". But the quality of the video are better.

Yay, Battlestar Galactica is back!
So, how come after a year away, the premiere for season four of Battlestar Galactica is only one hour? I think we deserve two hours, thank you very much.

Now I'm just waiting on Ron Moore's podcast commentary to appear. I really enjoy those. Those and David Eick's video blog. I just love how everyone just plays along and says bad things about David Eick. :-)

Stargate Atlantis: finale time
Essays suck. Thank goodness for Stargate Atlantis. Yay for distractions and the wasting of time! This was an odd finale. It just felt like... filler.

At least we have the first Stargate SG-1 DVD movie on Tuesday to keep satisfy that Stargate craving. Though, with the story being set before Atlantis season four, we'll be going back in time, not forward. But who cares. :-D

Thoughts on Torchwood 2x06
Quick thoughts about Torchwood 2x06, "Reset".

And is pink the colour for the season? Lot of pink shirts going on lately.

I should be doing research, but instead, thoughts on SGA 4x15
This was my kind of episode. Not the "we need a cheap episode so let's set it on Earth with minimal effects" aspect, but the delving into a character's past aspect. Sure, a bunch of stuff was revealed out of nowhere, but I suppose there's good reason for that.

And I agree with [info]kefira; John and Ronon in suits and civilian clothing is hot. :-D

That's more like it!
I do enjoy it when I'm annoyed with something on a TV show but then it gets resolved. It proves the writers do know what they're doing from time to time. ;-) Case in point, Stargate Atlantis episode eleven. Episode ten left me unhappy with certain plot turns, but episode eleven is beginning to make up for that. I'm not 100% impressed, mainly because of the one little thing they dropped in at the end, but I liked that surprise; it just needs to be expanded upon.

Good start for the second half. Let's just hope all this set-up pays off and doesn't suck. ;-) And if there is suckage, the first Stargate SG-1 DVD movie is out a few days ofter Atlantis season finale so there'll be something else to focus on.

Doctor Who and Christmas; is there nothing better?
First off, Jelly Babies are kind of weird. I thought they would be like Sour Patch Kids; gummy and covered in sugar. Obviously Jelly Babies are, well, jelly, and only lightly dusted in icing sugar, at least the kind my friend bought for me were. Also, this brand names the Jelly Babies; each flavour has a name, which was a bit disturbing. It seemed, though, that everyone else liked them. My sister liked them and so did my mother.

But yay! New Doctor Who! My sister likened me to a crack addict as I waited for it. Hey, to be fair there hasn't been a new episode of Who since July, "Time Crash" notwithstanding.

Plus I went Boxing Day shopping and found the Doctor Who Visual Dictionary at Chapters. :-) With gift cards it was nice and cheap. Nothing like a Doctor Who Christmas. :-D

Here it comes. Ranting about Stargate Atlantis' mid-season two parter
While I'm glad there's only a month between new Stargate Atlantis episodes, I have to say their usual mid-season two parter makes me angry. Not that it sucked or anything. To the rant!

Since I'm too lazy and too afraid of spoilers to go look myself, can anyone tell me if the character I've been ranting about above is returning for more episodes past this one? If it's just episode eleven I will be mad because that's just a re-hash of season two.

The Sarah Jane Adventures
Don't mind me, flist. I'm just going to blab about The Sarah Jane Adventures for a bit. Sure it's a kid show, but it helped to fill that Doctor Who void. ;-D

I think the best part about spin-offs is that they expand the universe of the parent TV show. You either get more information about a character or different scenarios not possible on the parent show. Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures do a bit of both. I've always liked Sarah Jane as a companion. Slightly prone to fall under hypnosis or get kidnapped, but hey, that's life with the Doctor. Plus she was the first spin-offable companion, along with K-9, but we all know that show didn't end well. But they brought her back and the show made it past one episode!

Now, I've been thinking about this ever since the first episode. SJA is totally like Buffy. Really. You've got the super powered teenager who has special powers and worries about fitting in, the adult parent figure who has all the resources and experience, the loyal female friend who starts off meek but ends up kicking butt, and the wise cracking male friend who's just as loyal. Probably coincidence, but Russell T Davies is a big Buffy fan. :-D

Hee! Doctor Who Children in Need special!
I was so annoyed when I got spoiled for this, but the awesomeness of the eight minutes has made up for it. :-D So nice to see some new Doctor Who.
