Okay, I felt better today and ventured out to see Cloverfield with
beachkid . I hadn't really followed all the hype; occasionally I checked out cloverfieldclues.com but that was it. I doubt if I had followed everything it would have made the movie watching experience any more exciting.
But first off, the real reason I went to see Cloverfield, y'know besides wanting to see it so I wouldn't have to hear any people talk about it and be spoiled: the Star Trek movie teaser trailer. And when I say teaser, I mean teaser. You see nothing. I know teaser trailers usually don't tell you the plot, but some footage would have been nice. I guess they're still in the middle of filming and have nothing to show. Needless to say, I was disappointed. You see guys building the Enterprise, some old audio clips about space, and then Leonard Nimoy says "Space, the final frontier". And for some stupid reason, they're building the Enterprise on a planet. I'm not a hard core Trek fan, but I know enough that Starfleet ships are built in space. But anyway...
Well, good for Drew Goddard on writing a big, hyped up movie anyway. I hope this leads to more success for him.
