Well, at least it wasn't a Ferengi plot to fool the Doctor
A little ST: TNG reference for the fans there. ;-)

Well, that was... interesting. But in a good way.

Sadly, I won't be home next Saturday so I'll be missing out on the Agatha Christie action. But my sister is going to buy me a pair of Chucks for my birthday. :-) Now comes the all important decision: what colour?

I think this episode is saying we should all walk more
Good thing about two parters. If the first part is lacklustre you can always make it up in the second part. Though, first parts can't help but be sucky sometimes. It has to set up stuff for the second part and that's never fun.

I so planned on not watching the trailer since the plot of episode six was a complete mystery to me but with the end of the episode the way it was, I had to keep watching.

Okay, on second thought "The Sontaran Stratagem" had its moments
I was rather tired yesterday after the con, so my thoughts on Doctor Who were a little scattered. I forgot to babble about a few things that came up. The episode had some good things.

I think that's the last time I'll be watching Doctor Who after a long day. You sort of zone out.

Oh, those silly Sontarans
Again with the titles that spoil who the villains are. It totally ruins the moment when they're revealed. You know to expect a space potato head under that helmet.

Actually, I'm really excited to get past the next episode. I have no idea what episode six is about. They didn't show clips from that episode; all the trailers skipped over it and went straight to episode seven. Beyond episode seven I'm totally clueless, too. I can't wait. No more school and unknown Who episodes to come.

Ooddles of Ood
Just what I needed. A snowy episode to match the weather outside. ;-) I swear the Ood Home Sphere could be just outside my window.

Next week should be interesting. I'm not sure I agree with the makeover they've given the Sontarans, but hopefully they've kept their attitudes the same.

Doctor Who: making Roman history fun since 2008!
Wow, that was a really good episode. I was rather excited for this one since I learned a little bit about Pompeii in my Greek and Roman technology class. Also, it's easy to convince myself that by watching this episode I was actually studying for the class. ;-) Actually, there were a few examples of some of things I learned in class in the episode, like amphorae and hypocausts. Heck, there was even graffiti on the wall when the Doctor is talking to that merchant.

Good episode, and we all learned a few things about Pompeii. Maybe a question about Pompeii will appear on my Greek and Roman technology final. I wish. :-) Thankfully in a week classes will be done and I can watch Doctor Who guilt free after that.

The Doctor and Donna: together again!
Oh yeah, Doctor Who is back! I think I've overgeeked this weekend. :-D

Wow, and the official Doctor Who site got ugly and weird to navigate. But podcast commentaries! Hurray for BBC only messing up the commentary for "Voyage of the Damned". But the quality of the video are better.

Firefly and Doctor Who: too much awesome in one place
So [info]goldy_dollar mentioned an interest in doing a Doctor Who/Firefly ficathon. It's not official yet, but I thought I would whip up some images of the Serenity crew with the Doctor and Rose/Martha anyway. :-D

Currently 800x600 for no apparent reason. I can blow up the images to 1024x768 if anyone so desires.

Doctor Who comic #1: a short pic spam and review
I finally managed to find a copy of issue one of the new Doctor Who comic. The story was okay. It was only the first issue so I'll have to see how the rest of it pans out and whether Doctor Who can make the jump from screen to page as well as other television adaptations.

Doctor Who and Christmas; is there nothing better?
First off, Jelly Babies are kind of weird. I thought they would be like Sour Patch Kids; gummy and covered in sugar. Obviously Jelly Babies are, well, jelly, and only lightly dusted in icing sugar, at least the kind my friend bought for me were. Also, this brand names the Jelly Babies; each flavour has a name, which was a bit disturbing. It seemed, though, that everyone else liked them. My sister liked them and so did my mother.

But yay! New Doctor Who! My sister likened me to a crack addict as I waited for it. Hey, to be fair there hasn't been a new episode of Who since July, "Time Crash" notwithstanding.

Plus I went Boxing Day shopping and found the Doctor Who Visual Dictionary at Chapters. :-) With gift cards it was nice and cheap. Nothing like a Doctor Who Christmas. :-D

"Would you like a jelly baby?"
A friend got me jelly babies for Christmas. Hee! Now I am so tempted to find those little white paper bags and run around saying to people, "Would you like a jelly baby?" Actually, I'll probably crack open the bag on Christmas and eat them while watching "Voyage of the Damned".

Funny thing is, I only mentioned them in passing while we were at the mall. We walked by the British candy store and I was all, "Look, jelly babies," and my friend didn't know what those were. I quickly explained about Doctor Who but my friend doesn't like sci fi (and has admitted that she tried to watch an episode and didn't like it!), so off we went.

Nothing like having friends who put up with your idiosyncrasies. :-D

"Destiny of the Daleks": general thoughts and pic spam part two
I think Four is my favourite Doctor after Nine and Ten (yes, they're tied for first place). He can be all crazy and random one second and then completely serious the next. Actually, this seems like an attribute all Doctors have, but Four did it in spades. Well, Ten can be just as crazy but he counters it with angst. ;-)

Part two of "Destiny of the Daleks" involves a lot of walking down corridors and "corridor acting". I love that it has a name; the sets were so short you had to make sure to get all your lines out before the corridor ended. I think it's in the commentary for "Planet of Evil" that Tom Baker said he came up with just stopping, saying a bunch of the lines, then starting off again as a way of accommodating.

"Destiny of the Daleks": general thoughts and pic spam for part one
Christmas may be soon approaching but it's not approaching fast enough so I thought why not fill the void with some classic Doctor Who. Got my hands on a copy of "Destiny of the Daleks". An okay episode. I prefer "Genesis of the Daleks" more for various reasons. General thoughts for part one with an accompanying pic spam, just to change things up. :-D Warning, image heavy behind the cut.

And now that classes are done for the semester I can watch more Classic Who. :-D

I'm probably the only one left
I think it's about time I mention that I haven't read the casting spoiler for Doctor Who season four. Yup, I'm probably the last person on Earth who doesn't know what's going on. Well, that's not true. I have a good guess about what's going on due to where the news was posted but I haven't bothered to confirm my suspicions.

Why, you may ask? It's a spoiler thing. I'd rather wait until the actual episode to find out. I hate ruining the surprise. The reveal at the end of Doctor Who season three would have so been less exciting if I had known what was coming. So, here I am, existing in my ignorant bubble of bliss. That is until someone puts the news in an icon or forgets to put it behind a cut or I just stumble onto the wrong website. But for now, I've lasted a week or so. Let's see if my willpower holds out. ;-) I hope to make it to Christmas at least.

But I thank you, kind flist, for putting thoughts behind cuts. And that's why I haven't replied anywhere. I care, I really do, I'm just weird. :-D

"I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee!"
I wanted to do another Halloween image with Mal and Inara as Han and Leia, but it didn't turn out quite so well. So, more Halloween Doctor Who style! This is in no way me avoiding writing a term paper. :-D

In my head, Rose takes Jack and Nine home to attend a friend's Halloween party and it's Jack's idea to dress as characters from Star Wars. Nine protests, until he sees Rose dressed as Leia. Then Jack quips, "I bet you wish you were Han right now." I'm sure much candy eating follows and/or an alien stirs up some trouble and our TARDIS trio have to save the day. I can imagine Nine saving a kid and the kid going home and saying to his mother, "Mum, a Jedi saved me!"

Other considered characters: K-9 as R2-D2 and Mickey as Chewie. ;-)

"We solemnly swear that we are up to no good."
Ah, it's that time of year again. The days are getting shorter, the leaves are yellow, and university students everywhere are putting off doing work. Oh, and it's Halloween time. :-D It's amazing how well the two of them can go together.

Doesn't the Doctor make a lovely Harry? I can't decide who would be the bigger Harry Potter fan. Maybe the Doctor because he cried when he read book seven.

And an icon, because who doesn't like an icon. ;-)
